The School of Journalism and Communication of Nankai University emphasizes new media, international communication and interdisciplinary integration in its postgraduate training program. Currently, the school offers two academic master's degree authorization units, Journalism and Communication, and two professional master's degree authorization units, Journalism and Communication and Publishing, both of which enroll international students.

Thanks to Nankai University’s strong background of humanities and social sciences and accumulation of journalism and communication science over the past years, Academic Master's Program attaches great importance to the cultivation of theoretical and practical abilities in journalism and communication in all respects. The Schools focuses on cultivating comprehensive talents who excel in profession, educational background, physical and mental qualities, and integrate future news perspectives, interview planning abilities, and advanced media technology. Graduates must be capable of performing related tasks such as news promotion, publishing, and media operation and management. The Master's Program in Journalism and Communication aims to cultivate high-level news and communication professionals who are capable in practical work with good professional ethics, modern news and communication concepts, international perspectives, as well as proficient news and communication skills and methods. The Master's Program in Journalism and Communication in Publishing aims to cultivate high-level, practical, and versatile specialized talents who are role models in both moral integrity and ability, master the knowledge and skills of the publishing industry, and have a wide range of knowledge. They can comprehensively apply their multidisciplinary expertise to solve practical problems in the publishing industry and meet the needs of the publishing industry.

In terms of international student enrollment, the School of Journalism and Communication has collaborated with the NKU’s School of International Education to adopt an application-review model. After admission, international students will receive class lecturing together with their Chinese classmates, and will be awarded the respective master's degree after satisfactorily finishing the academic classes. In recent years, the School has admitted multiple international students from Europe, Asia, Africa, and other regions, and has been constantly making great strides in the cultivation of students.
