TPMG's Secretary of the CPC Committee and Chairman Ban Feng Pays a Visit to NKU

Ban Feng, Secretary of the CPC Committee and Chairman of Tianjin Publishing and Media Group Co., Ltd. (TPMG), and his fellow workers visited NKU on October 31. Niu Wenli, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Nankai University Committee, met with guests at Xiushan Hall of Jinnan Campus. Both sides exchanged their views on theoretical research in publishing, talent cultivation, and further cooperation between the academic and industry communities.

Ren Jie, chief of TPMG’s Publishing Department and Wang Meina, deputy chief of the Digital Integration Department, Liu Qing, President of Tianjin People's Publishing House, Huang Pei, President of Tianjin Education Press, Liu Jinquan, President of Tianjin Beiyang Audio Visual Publishing House, and Ma Changhong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of NKU’s School of Journalism and Communication, Chen Peng, Vice Dean of the School, Qi Dexiang, Executive Vice Director of Publishing Research Institute and Professor Liu Yunfeng attended the talk.

Ban Feng introduced TPMG's basic profile, hoping to break the ice for the publishing industry in these days and seize the valuable opportunities for the industrial transformation by cooperating with NKU and leveraging the University’s academic advantages. He also expressed the desire to work with the NKU Publishing Research Institute in publishing international communication, copyright research, theme publishing, digital textbooks, and other aspects. Ban pointed out that publishing industry is at a critical stage of transformation under the impact of new technologies, and the publishing talents are particularly in great demand. He hoped that NKU can cultivate more versatile and high-quality talents for the publishing industry.

Niu Wenli introduced the NKU Publishing Research Institute that was established with the support of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Ministry of Education, and stated that in order to give full play to the important role of publishing in consolidating and disseminating mainstream values, it is urgent for us to make comprehensive efforts from both theoretical and practical perspectives. NKU will leverage its strengths as a comprehensive research-oriented university, effectively integrate the resources from various disciplines across the University, build publishing disciplines that meet the needs of national development and society, and foster composite publishing talents. He hoped that the University would establish an integrated cooperation framework and mechanism between the Publishing Research Institute and TPMG, carry out activities such as visits, exchanges and discussions, enrich the connotation and extension of collaborative work, and promote the common development of publishing disciplines and the publishing industry.
