The 2024 Choral Competition for Staff of NKU, “Singing Revolutionary Songs for the CPC”, took place on the Balitai Campus on June 6. Under the theme of “Revolutionary Melodies and Deep-Rooted Party Discipline,” the competition attracted 30 teams from various programs, schools, divisions, and departments. The School of Journalism and Communication actively encouraged staff to participate in the event. The School team delivered a powerful rendition of Crossing the Chishui River for 4 Times with Ingenious Military Move, honoring the Red Army’s revolutionary heroism featuring hard work and perseverance, while expressing admiration for revolutionary predecessors. Ultimately, the team secured the 3rd prize in Group II.

This was the School’s first participation in the Choral Competition for Staff of NKU. The Trade Union and the Teachers’ Congress of the School actively stimulated staff involvement, meticulously assembled a chorus, invited a singing instructor for guidance, and developed a comprehensive training plan. Faculty members spent their spare time training. They overcame the challenges and fully engaged with the training. Through exceptional teamwork and effective specialized training, they adapted swiftly to the pace of the Competition. By demonstrating remarkable musical literacy and performance, the chorus brought honor to the School.

To ensure a smooth performance, the School’s Trade Union and Teachers’ Congress coordinated in advance with the piano accompanist and conductor, rented costumes and props, and arranged for students to apply makeup for the chorus. On the day of the Competition, students from the School formed a cheer squad to rally behind the chorus for victory. Throughout the preparation and the Competition, both faculty members and students fulfilled their roles, creating an electrifying atmosphere. They experienced a vibrant team spirit and a strong sense of cohesion within the School.

This Choral Competition was a part of NKU’s educational efforts on party discipline, designed to promote China’s core values through the medium of art, enhance educational impact, and ensure effective implementation. Members of the chorus expressed that the Competition not only strengthens cohesion and competence of the School but also ignites their passion for scientific research and teaching. The School will undertake more practical actions to remain loyal to the CPC and maintain a passion for education in both work and life, contributing to the development of a leading country in education.
