On September 25, the 2024 Publishing Think Tank Workshop was held in Beijing, during which the list of key institutions selected for the 2024 High-quality Construction Program of Publishing Think Tanks was announced, and NKU Publishing Research Institute once again got included in the list. Niu Wenli, Deputy Secretary of CPC NKU Committee and Director of the Publishing Research Institute, attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech at the Publishing Think Tank Workshop.
Since it was selected for the national High-quality Construction Program of Publishing Think Tanks in 2023, NKU Publishing Research Institute has aimed to build a new industry-university-research think tank integrating scientific research and innovation, policy research, industrial services and talent cultivation. It has developed the work idea of “integrating publishing think tank construction and publishing discipline construction by driving publishing discipline construction through publishing think tank construction, and promoting publishing think tank development through publishing discipline construction”. Under the steady progress of think tank construction work in the past year, NKU has been among the first batch to establish the doctoral degree authorization point in publishing, forming a complete undergraduate-to-doctoral education system. It has achieved remarkable results in faculty team building, university-enterprise cooperation, project implementation, social services, and achievements transformation.
The 2024 High-quality Construction Program of Publishing Think Tanks, organized and implemented by the National Press and Publication Administration, is intended to establish professional think tanks with a solid foundation that can deliver competitive outcomes and generate key research findings to guide management decision-making and promote high-quality industry development. The Program also seeks to cultivate publishing think tank professionals with strong political acumen and high research skills, while continuing to speed up theoretical and practical research in the publishing industry, as well as the transformation and application of research results.
Among the 34 selected institutions, 10 were included in for the first time in 2024. These 34 institutions are of three types, namely, university publishing departments, research departments of publishing enterprises, and specialized research institutions in the publishing field. The publishing think tanks will follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, take up the new cultural mission in the new era, contribute to industry development, serve management decision-making, and provide effective intellectual support for accelerating the construction of a strong nation in culture and publishing.
