Teachers from School of Journalism and Communication Visit China National Archives of Publications and Culture

The establishment of China National Archives of Publications and Culture is a major decision made by the Central Committee of the CPC with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core. On June 1-2, 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping made a special trip to China National Archives of Publications and Culture and the Chinese Academy of History for inspection, attended a symposium on the inheritance and development of culture, and delivered an important speech. From the strategic height of the overall development of the CPC and national cause, he made a comprehensive, systematic, and in-depth exposition of a series of major theoretical and practical issues concerning the inheritance and development of Chinese culture.

On November 14, Ma Changhong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Journalism and Communication, led the teachers from the School to visit China National Archives of Publications and Culture.

The Central Archives is located on the site of an abandoned quarry at the foot of Yanshan Mountains. With ecological restoration, a magnificent antique building complex was built along the mountain terrain. Here, the teachers from the School of Journalism and Communication visited and gained a detailed understanding of the Central Archives. As the national repository of publication resources and the seed bank of the Chinese civilization, the Central Archives is mainly responsible for national publication resource planning and coordination, collection and exhibition, research and exchange, and publishing information services. It is the center of the collection, exhibition, research and exchange of Chinese publications, as well as the national publishing information service center. It bears the important mission of inheriting the Chinese cultural heritage, strengthening cultural confidence, showcasing the image of a great power, and promoting dialogue among civilizations.

During the guided tour, the teachers visited a number of exhibition areas and special exhibitions, including Light of Truth: A Classic Archives Exhibition of Marxism Localization and Modernization in China, The Inception of Chinese Civilization: An Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Publications and Cultural Articles, Witness to the Great Cause: The Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation Archives Exhibition, The Exhibition on Fine Publications and Special Editions in Contemporary China, Wenhan Hall, Cave Storage, and National Study.

The teachers said that through this visit, they deeply appreciated the unique charm of Chinese publications, and deepened their understanding of excellent traditional Chinese culture. They will integrate the learnings into their future teaching and research work to contribute their part to promoting the development of journalism and communication and the inheritance of Chinese culture.
