NKU's undergraduate program of Editing Studies, established in 1984, has cultivated a large number of specialized professionals for the nation over the past 40 years. The university was approved as one of China's first batch of institutions authorized to confer Master's degrees and Doctoral degrees in publishing in 2010 and 2023 respectively, thereby establishing a comprehensive talent cultivation system spanning bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. This year, it took the national lead in enrolling doctoral students in publishing.

At the appointment ceremony, Ma Changhong noted that NKU's publishing program boasts a solid foundation. With guidance and support from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Education over the past two years, NKU has co-established the Publishing Research Institute with the Publicity Department of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee. The institute has been twice selected for the national High-quality Construction Program of Publishing Think Tanks and approved for key publishing projects supported by Tianjin Municipality. The six new appointees represent not only NKU's, but also the nation's first batch of industry supervisors for doctoral programs in publishing. Their joining will inject robust vitality into the development of the School's doctoral program in publishing, laying a solid foundation for the School to deepen industry-university-research collaboration and cultivate more outstandingpublishing professionals with innovative vision and practical capabilities.

Publishing, as a highly applied interdisciplinary field, necessitates the development of top-tier professionals with profound academic foundations, extensive knowledge backgrounds, and rich practical experience. This initiative constitutes a critical imperative that both addresses national strategic needs and propels innovation-driven advancement in the publishing industry.
