Ideological and political education course instructors and student counselors serve as vital forces in the ideological and political education of university students. To promote collaborative synergy and mutual empowerment between these two teams, thereby deepening and solidifying the ideological and political education of university students, on February 26, the student affairs team of the School of Journalism and Communication invited Associate Professor Sun Bingyan from the School of Marxism for collaborative course planning centered around the theme of practice-based education under the framework of holistic ideological and political education.

Associate Professor Sun Bingyan first shared his insights on the importance of social practice in the ideological and political education of university students. In his view, social practice activities serve as a bridge connecting theory and practice, providing students with a valuable platform to engage with real-world society and hone their skills. More importantly, they also represent a crucial link in transforming theoretical knowledge into practical application. When planning and implementing social practice activities, it is essential to closely align them with disciplinary characteristics to help students deepen their theoretical understanding through practice. Professor Sun emphasized the need to encourage instructors of specialized courses to actively participate in guiding and planning social practice activities, aligning the teaching objectives of holistic ideological and political education with social practice to form a mutually reinforcing virtuous cycle. Specialized course instructors can leverage their teaching expertise and research achievements to guide students in deepening the application of theory in practice, achieving the unity of knowledge and action, and enabling theoretical knowledge to be tested and enhanced through practical application.

The student affairs team of the School engaged in in-depth discussions with Associate Professor Sun Bingyan on topics such as practice-based project selection and deepening educational outcomes. Together, they explored practice-based education pathways tailored to the characteristics of contemporary university students, striving to develop a holistic ideological and political education curriculum and construct a comprehensive holistic ideological and political education framework.
