On the afternoon of March 7, Dai Longfei, Secretary of the Youth League Committee at the School of Marxism, was invited to host a session titled Resume Writing Workshop: Crafting Your First Key to Career Opportunities! as part of the Employability Enhancement Camp organized by the School of Journalism and Communication. The workshop was structured around four key parts: What HR Really Wants to See, Understanding Employer Expectations, Identifying Your Own Strengths, and Getting Started with Resume Writing. Dai provided students with a detailed and in-depth guide on how to create an outstanding resume.
At the outset of the workshop, Dai posed several thought-provoking questions: How many pages should a resume ideally be? How can you increase your resume's success rate? What heading should appear at the top of your resume? These questions helped gauge students' baseline knowledge of resume best practices.
Dai then conducted a comparative analysis of two distinct resumes with the students, examining key elements including personal information presentation, writing style, and overall layout design. She emphasized several crucial resume-writing principles: personal information should be presented concisely, educational background should contain major courses in reverse chronological order, and awards and honors should be listed following systematic categorization and analysis, while internship experience descriptions should highlight priorities and relevant keywords. Afterwards, Dai offered personalized resume reviews and revisions through one-on-one consultations, addressing student inquiries and providing professional guidance from an expert perspective.
In her concluding remarks, she stressed that job hunting could be an extended process requiring persistent effort, advising students to maintain a positive mindset while continuously refining their resumes, with the firm assurance that such dedicated preparation would ultimately yield favorable employment outcomes.
